Should Saquon Barkley move on from the New York Giants?

New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley has not signed his franchise tag and is currently missing off-season practice with the team. Barkley and New York Giants have not come close to an agreement, as Giants owner John Mara said last month that he would like Barkley to be a Giant his whole career. As this continues, many Giants fans are wondering, is it time to move on from Saquon and search for another option?

Barkley, selected by the Giants in the 2018 NFL Draft as the number two pick, had one of his best seasons last year with 1,312 rushing yards, 338 receiving yards, and 10 touchdowns, helping the Giants reach the NFC divisional round after defeating the Minnesota Vikings in the wildcard. This was the first time since the Giants won the Super Bowl in 2011 that they won a playoff game. Barkley was a key piece to this Giants offense that was more centered around the run game with plays that featured runs by both Barkley and quarterback Daniel Jones.

However, it might be crunch time here for the Giants, as Barkley refusing to sign the franchise tag could mean New York might need to find a new running back, instead of the new weapons to help the Giants win. With that in mind, this year's draft does feature some talented running backs, as we are able to list off a few that the Giants might want to take a look at.

Top 5 Running Backs in this years NFL Draft

  1. Bijan Robinson- Texas Longhorns

  2. Jahmyr Gibbs- Alabama Crimson Tide

  3. Kendre Miller- TCU Horned Frogs

  4. Sean Tucker- Syracuse Orange

  5. Kenny McIntosh- Georgia Bulldogs

Even though we are listing off options for the New York Giants to possibly target, Saquon Barkley should return to the Giants. His speed, agility, and field vision make him a key piece to this franchise. When we have more information on the Barkley contract situation, we will keep everyone updated.
